♦ Determined: Once she sets her mind on a task, she will not rest until it is completed.
♦ Kindhearted: Growing up at the inn disciplined her into an obedient and (overly) caring servant who seldom declines a request for assistance. She strongly believes in a moral obligation to help others in need.
♦ Naive: She's been living a mostly sheltered life and has not gotten very much use to life outside of the home and...reality in general.
♦ Optimistic: Definitely not the type to linger on failure and hopelessness. She is always hopeful and believes that everything will eventually work out in the end.
♦ Officious : It's become a bit of a (bad) habit of her to constantly ask how someone is doing or if they needed anything to the point of being a nuisance. Basically, it often slips her mind that others can do things for themselves and doesn't need a little girl babying them.
Meiri was born into a large household in the lush countryside of Midorijima, spending most of her childhood assisting in running her family's ryokan and being home-schooled. At an early age, one of her tutors, Ms. Kotone, discovered the girl's talent for music as she witnessed Meiri play a song she's heard out of memory on the piano, with no prior formal training. As time passed, Ms.Kotone helped to develop her talent and constantly drove her passion for music. Around Meiri's 14th birthday, she begged her parents to let her leave home to attend a public school so she can expand in her music studies and pursue her dream of becoming a professional composer. Her parents initially declined the request, but Ms.Kotone, seeing great potential in her pupil, persistently implored alongside Meiri for the opportunity. After weeks of pleading, her parents finally gave in and made arrangements for Meiri's move to Kyuujuuminku to attend Narashino high school.
Upon arrival in Kyuujuuminku, Meiri was taken in by her eldest sister and temporary guardian, Yuhara Seika (age 24) who also had a special surprise for her (ordered by her parents in advance)---Xian, a cat Allmate programmed to guide Meiri and help her assimilate into the more advanced urban society of Midorijima. Because of her rather sheltered childhood, Meiri was often dumbfounded by any piece of technology more advanced than a microwave. Although she held curious fascination over Allmates after seeing inn guests coddling over them, she was forbidden to approach any of it as her parents and superiors didn't want her meddling with the guests. But now, the sudden addition of the AI into her new life made everything all the more exciting. However, life outside of the inn was not easy, for Meiri had to constantly rely on Xian and Seika for guidance for many things (from figuring how to operate a computer at the school library to using the apps on her coil). The first few weeks worked up quite a struggle for the young girl but as with everything, technology eventually became a familiar being with time and life began to settle down, becoming more enjoyable.
During her 2nd year at Narashino was when she caught words of an aspiring band named Nosferheim. Eager for opportunities that may put her into the music industry, the girl sought out the band and offered her talent. She has been playing for them as the pianist / keyboardist / composer ever since. It was after joining the band that Meiri began to pay more attention to a game called Rhyme (and also discovered that the band doubled as a Rhyme team). Although Rhyme was a constant topic at school, never did she gave it much interest since she was never good at games and it all sounded too complicated for someone who could barely operate a computer. But after her entry into Nosferheim, the band members constantly went on about Rhyme and nagged her to try. Eventually, with guidance from Xian and the band members, Meiri finally racked up the courage and dove into a Rhyme game. The immense display of technology made her giddy but it wasn't as overwhelming as she had feared--moreover, the excitement from the match was something extraordinary. Though her first match ended in her loss (unsurprisingly), the experience generated enough enthusiasm within her that she didn't mind coming back for more.
[ ❤ ] Xian: He is Meiri's lifeline when it comes to survival in the urban district. She has grown very attached and dependent on him. He has become family to her--they have something resembling a brother and sister relationship.
[ ❤ ] Seika, Yuhara (currently 26): Despite the age gap, they are practically best friends. Meiri loves and admires Seika's strong and independent personality as well as her beauty and wishes to become as cool as her someday.
